Local man held in murder case (06/03/10)
A Blytheville man is dead and another is in jail in lieu of $500,000 cash bond after a shooting Tuesday night on South Eighth Street. Just before 9 p.m., Blytheville police officers were sent to 1305 S. Eighth St. in reference to a man being shot. At the scene, officers found a man lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. Paramedics arrived and treated the man, later identified as Melvin Middlebrook, 40, of 437 Delta Road...

Relay for Life begins Friday (06/03/10)
This year's Relay for Life begins Friday at 6 p.m. at the Arkansas Aeroplex. Registration for survivors begins at 6 p.m. at the Survivors Tent. Entertainment by Emily Dixon, Sara Brandon and Allie and Aspen Austin will begin at 6 as well. A performance by Gene McDonald will follow at 6:25 p.m. and the official welcome will be given at 6:50 by Linda Peterson, event chairman, and Mike Julian, who serves as the event's master of ceremonies...
Teacher reaches milestone (06/03/10)
After 30 years of kindergarten, Gosnell Elementary teacher Debbie Finch has reached a milestone: she just finished teaching the third child of one of her former kindergarten students. Finch is a life-long Gosnell Pirate, having attended the district from kindergarten through 12th grade while growing up, and then beginning her teaching career there 30 years ago. ...
