Foundation ends lease on historic house (01/19/13)
After three years, the Greater Blytheville Area Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Greater Blytheville Foundation has ended its lease to use the Historic Taylor House as an entertainment venue, and the house has now been put on the market for sale. The Greater Blytheville Foundation had worked closely with Taylor House owner Byron Carlock over the course of its three-year lease, according to executive director Liz Smith. ...
Jones still plans ward meeting for Saturday (01/19/13)

Man arrested for pulling gun on his wife who was holding an infant (01/19/13)
STEELE, Mo. -- A local man was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 16, after Steele Police Officers responded to a residence on Lynn Drive in reference to a domestic violence assault involving a handgun. Keith Robertson, 33 of Steele, was arrested by officers after allegedly pulling out a handgun and placing the gun to his wife's head, while threatening to shoot her. The woman he was threatening was reportedly holding a baby during the incident...

Gun ownership is about liberty, security (01/19/13)
Unlike Andy Weld, (Opinion, Wednesday, Jan. 16 issue) I am going to discuss what impact the specific wording of the Second Amendment has (or should have) on the various arguments being made in the national gun control debate. Like Mr. Weld, I am no Constitutional scholar, but I have read the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights and the Second Amendment. I have also read some of the Founding Fathers' Federalist Papers where they elaborate on their intent concerning the Second Amendment...
NRA has best answer to stopping gun violence (01/19/13)
The NRA has the best answer to evil people killing others with no fighting chance, and that was for every bad person with a gun, it takes a good person with a gun! Or else we are just wasting taxpayer money by putting more cops on the street. You might say, "Well, they are specially trained for this type situation." I agree, but I would rather have an ol' boy with a pistol trying to help me than a bleeding heart carrying a candle around in the dark because he or she thinks we violated some killer's rights.. ...
