PINE BLUFF-- Armorel's quest for a third straight trip to the 1A state championship game came up one run short as the Taylor Tigers came back from a three-run seventh inning deficit to beat Armorel, 5-4, in extra innings. Armorel close to title game return

PINE BLUFF -- This time, Taylor Hopper finished the deal for Ty Wagganer. Hopper retired his only batter in the sixth inning with bases loaded and pitched a near-perfect seventh inning to preserve Armorel's 5-4 victory over Nemo Vista on Saturday in a 1A state baseball quarterfinal at Taylor Field. That sets up a meeting with another 1A perennial power, Taylor, at noon Monday here for a ticket to the statefinal in Fayetteville...

Dallas Nicholson followed up a one-run triple with the tying score in the seventh, and Jonathan Porter sprinted home in the ninth with one out to give the Region 2 champion Tigers a 4-3 victory over Kirby on Thursday in the first round of the 1A state baseball playoffs at Taylor Field...

The Armorel Tigers won an extra-innings thriller Thursday night against Kirby in the first round of the 1A state tournament at White Hall. Trailing 3-2 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Dallas Nicholson scored from third on a wild pitch. Jonathan Porter scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth on a wild pitch as well to extend the Tigers' season at least for another day...

VIOLA--The Armorel Tigers will head into the 1A state tournament with a No. 1 seed after a 6-0 win over host Viola in the regional championship game, Tuesday night. Once again, Armorel's starting pitching proved to be nearly unhittable over the three-game tournament.
