Three arrested on drug charges

Saturday, January 28, 2012
Three men face drug charges after being arrested recently by local authorities.

Jeremy Taylor, Gary Johnson and Clinton W. Harris all face charges of possession of controlled substance with the purpose to deliver-methamphetamine (1.3 grams) and possession of instrument of crime.

Taylor is also charged with fleeing. His bond was set by Judge Gibson at $35,000. Judge Langston set Johnson's at $35,000, and Gibson set Harris' at $25,000.

On Jan. 21, patrolmen Terry Hodges and Ebony Johnson were in the area of Logan Heights Apartments when Hodges noticed Jeremy Taylor exiting a small Nissan truck and walking up to the front door of 1227 West Semmes.

Hodges knew Taylor had active warrants with the Osceola Police Department. Hodges stopped and approached Taylor, whose hand clinched, according to the police report.

Hodges asked Taylor to show him what was in his hand and Taylor reportedly refused and pushed Hodges back off the porch.

"At this time, PTL. Hodges noticed Taylor throw the items out of his hand," the report reads. "PTL. Hodges believed it was two plastic baggies with a white substance."

Hodges pursued Taylor and quickly apprehended him at the back of the residence. Hodges then asked for Johnson to find the items Taylor allegedly threw. Johnson pulled up and saw Gary Johnson standing near the front of the truck on the passengers side.

"PTL. Johnson approached Johnson and noticed some aluminum foil containing suspected methamphetamine," the report says. "PTL. Johnson took Johnson and the other passenger in the vehicle, Clifton Harris, into custody. Officers located three more plastic baggies containing suspected methamphetamine. Two of the plastic baggies were found in the area that Taylor threw the items. The other plastic baggie was located on the passenger side of the vehicle."

A suspected methamphetamine pipe was also located on the passenger side of the vehicle. All subjects were taken into custody. The evidence was turned over to the Drug Task Force. The suspected methamphetamine was weighed and field tested and had an approximate weight of 1.3 grams and tested positive for methamphetamine.
