An Ohio motorcyclist lost his life following a one-vehicle accident in downtown Blytheville early Sunday morning.
According to Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson, during a routine patrol, Blytheville police discovered 33-year-old Eugene Hauck suffered fatal injuries when he lost control of his motorcycle around 5:15 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of West Main Street.
Thompson said the accident investigation indicates that Hauck was driving eastbound at a high rate of speed approaching the first serpentine section of Main Street.
"Hauck lost control of his motorcycle striking the curb, arch, light pole and other objects along the way," the chief said. "Evidence and debris from the accident scene extended approximately the length of a city block."
He added officers suspect Hauck was intoxicated but are awaiting the complete analysis of the evidence.
The Blytheville Police Department has confirmed Hauck's family has been notified.
