Christmas is coming to Blytheville, and the Greater Blytheville Area Chamber of Commerce has two annual events planned to kick off the season.

The annual tree lighting at the pocket park on Main and Railroad will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6. The event, sponsored by Palace Ayres, will include music and refreshments.

The annual Blytheville Christmas parade will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 on Main Street in downtown Blytheville. The parade is being sponsored by Temps Plus Staffing.

Businesses, school bands or organizations that would like to participate in the parade can register at www.greaterblytheville.com. Click on "Events-Christmas Parade." First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded for commercial floats and non-profit floats.

The Blytheville High School Odyssey of the Mind club will sell hot chocolate and Main Street Blytheville will sell hot cider.

Following the tree lighting and the parade, visitors can enjoy a drive through the Lights of the Delta, featuring a display of more than 6 million lights located at the Arkansas Aeroplex. For more information about the lighting display, visit www.lightsofthedelta.com.
