Lady Tigers fall to Bay

ARMOREL--The Armorel Lady Tigers are still looking for their first win of the season after a 66-52 loss to the Bay Lady Yellowjackets Thursday night.

The Tigers fell to 0-8 on the year and 0-2 in the 1A-3 conference standings.

Bay led from start to finish in this one. Every time Armorel got within striking distance, the Yellowjackets had an answer and it was usually from point guard Hannah Willard. Willard led all scorers with 22 points and hit three three-pointers on the night.

Bay led 21-11 at the end of one and 40-23 by halftime. Armorel trailed by as little as three in the first period and seven in the second.

Madison Carr and Amanda Skelton opened the Tiger second half with three-pointers but each shot was matched by a three from Willard as Bay opened up a 20-point lead in the third period and led 55-36 heading into the fourth.

Carr led the Tigers with a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Skelton scored 17 and dished out seven assists. Angel Huffman scored five and and grabbed nine rebounds and Shelbie Collard added eight.

Willard led Bay with 22 and Shelby Lynch scored 14.

The Lady Tigers head to Piggott on Tuesday to take on the Mohawks.

JUNIOR HIGH

Armorel 27, Bay 12

The Armorel Junior Lady Tigers defeated Bay, 27-12, Thursday night.

Armorel led 12-2 at the end of one, 15-8 at halftime and 18-10 heading into the fourth period.

Emily Jo Gentry led Armorel with eight points and Whitney Wagganer added six and grabbed four steals.

Sydney Higgins scored all 12 points for Bay.
