A new economic development contract will be proposed to the Mississippi County Quorum Court during their December meeting.
According to a report given to the Court's Planning and Development Committee by Economic Developer Clif Chitwood, local company D&L Heating and Air is looking to expand and has requested tax funds. The proposed contract would give D&L $100,000 to add 10 employees to its existing 75. The jobs would be created in between one and four years.
The committee approved the proposal and will send it to be voted on by the full Court.
In additional economic development news, county grant writer Rick Johnson reported that between Aviation Repair Technologies, Nibco and Beckmann Volmer, 26 new jobs were added in the county during the third quarter of 2012, and 17 of those jobs went to Mississippi County residents.
