A few predictions for the sporting world in 2013:
-- Notre Dame will beat Alabama in the BCS National Championship game, 20-10. After the close calls the SEC has seen this bowl season to supposedly "lesser" Big Ten teams, I'm even more confident in this pick then I was a week ago. After the game, Alabama head coach Nick Saban will miss his flight back to Tuscaloosa. A search party will find him still pacing the sidelines of Sun Life Stadium in Miami yelling into his head set.
-- The Denver Broncos will beat the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLVII (47). Manning will cap off his remarkable comeback season with a win over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the AFC championship game and then finish it off with a win in his hometown of New Orleans in the Super Bowl. He will also win Comeback Player of the Year while the Minnesota Vikings' Adrian Peterson will win league MVP.
-- Louisville defeats Creighton in the NCAA championships. The NCAA crown will stay in the state of Kentucky, only this time, it will be Rick Petino and his Cardinals hosting the trophy over another Cinderella team, Creighton. Also, be on the lookout for rumors of NCAA recruiting violations at Kentucky. Why? It just seems to be the pattern for coach Calipari.
-- Tiger Woods will not win a PGA Major event this year, although he will probably fire another swing coach, apparently over the true meaning of the word, "swing."
-- The Oklahoma City Thunder will defeat the Miami Heat in seven games for the NBA title. In a rematch of last year's finale (which, by the way, Yours Truly predicted), the Thunder will get over the hump and win in a seventh game thriller with a last second shot from Kevin Durant.
-- The Texas Rangers will finally win the World Series. Dallas Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones, will sneak into the locker room during the champagne celebration and try to convince everyone that he was the one who put the team together and making in game decisions.
-- The NHL will not return to the ice this year and no one will care...
