Petar Jankovic is an international award-winning classical guitarist and faculty member at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. In this program, he joins forces with four other string musicians, also from Indiana University. This collaboration creates a unique and attractive classical crossover -- chamber ensemble: string quartet led by guitar. The voices of these instruments create a blend infused with a new vigor and a refreshing outlook. The combination creates the group's expressive and enjoyable renditions.
The musicians in this U.S.-based international ensemble are classically trained, highly-skilled professional artists whose brilliance and musical versatility are manifested through expressing the unique character of this new musical format. The concerts are well-received across a wide audience spectrum -- from traditional chamber music lovers to classical crossover enthusiasts and guitar fans.
The program, titled "From Spain to Tango," covers a wide range of repertoire with idiomatic and expressive renditions of music from Manuel De Falla, Federico Moreno-Torrobba, Isaac Albeniz, Radames Gnattali, Paula Bellinati, Jose Luis Merlin and Astor Piazzolla.
Musicians in the ensemble include Sophie Bird, violin I; Minjung Kim, violin II; Rose Wollman, viola; Kyra Saltman, cello; and Petar Jankovic, guitar.
