Forrest City shook off a bland second quarter to outscore Blytheville 35-20 in the second half in a 5A-East Conference game played Friday at Mustang Arena.
The Mustangs improved to 6-0 in the East and remained the only unbeaten boys team with a 63-38 win over the Chickasaws.
Junior forward Trey Thompson exploded for 12 first quarter points and finished with a game-high 18 points to lead the Mustangs.
Trevonte Coulter and Gervaise Barton were next in the scoring line for Forrest City with eight points each while Trenton Steen added six and Dwain Whitfield had five.
Darrius Furlow led Blytheville with 11 points and Damion Wilson had eight, including a pair of three pointers.
The Mustangs scored the first six points of the game and went on to lead 19-7 after the first quarter. They pushed that to 27-18 at the half.
Upping the defensive pressure in the second half, the Mustangs led 40-21 with 3:37 to play in the third quarter and 47-25 to begin the final frame.
Blytheville won the battle on the boards, outrebounding the Mustangs 35-22.
From the field, Blytheville shot 13 of 44 and dropped in nine of 16 chances from the foul line.
Blytheville suffered 19 turnovers to the Mustangs' nine.

The Forrest City Lady Mustangs were back to full force Friday in their home game against Blytheville.
The Lady Mustangs were without two roster players in Tuesday's home loss to Batesville.
Friday, Nikima Chatters scored 16 points to lead the Lady Mustangs to a 72-57 win over the Lady Chickasaws.
Senior guard Mary Burks added 15 points while Jakayla Burke added 13 points.
Forrest City improves to 2-4 in the conference with the win while the Lady Chickasaws fall to 1-5.
The Lady Mustangs led 16-9 after one period and 36-20 at the half.
Iesha Humphrey led Blytheville with 20 points while Dejah Prude added 11.
The Lady Chickasaws were 10 of 26 from the foul line while the Lady Mustangs were 19 of 27.
