OSCEOLA -- The city of Osceola is the latest government entity to kick in money for the proposed Big River Steel mill to be built just south of Osceola.
On Tuesday night, the Osceola City Council gave Mayor Dickie Kennemore the OK to commit $2 million toward the project.
Earlier this week, the Arkansas Legislature approved a bill providing $125 million in state financing and tax breaks to build the mill.
Last month, the Mississippi County Quorum Court appropriated $14.5 million in county economic development funds as an incentive for the Big River project.
The project is expected to bring at least 525 permanent jobs and more than 200 temporary construction jobs.
